New market studies for organic products in East-Africa

The Trade for Development Centre publishes two new market studies on organic products for the East-African market. Strong growing organic markets in Europe and the US have stimulated organic produce all over the world.

A first report examines the options that Tanzanian farmers producing certified organic ginger, chilli and vanilla have to sell their products. It maps the Tanzanian organic spices sector, as well as the international organic spices market.

A second report is about kidney beans. They are chosesn by African farmers for their export potential, outside Africa. However, at least in the short run, these farmers will not be able to meet the stringent international standards. Therefore, this report examines the potential of organically certified kidney beans on the local and regional markets.
